Our First Café

Our First Cafe

Our first café opened in November 2016 in Siem Reap, Cambodia, home to the beautiful Angkor Wat

In 2016 it was reported over 5 million tourists visited Cambodia with the vast majority of them staying in Siem Reap to see Angkor Wat. Tourism is a thriving multibillion dollar industry in the region. Yet, despite the boom in hotels and restaurants, Siem Reap remains one of the poorest regions in Cambodia.

Malnourishment levels are high and school completion rates low with the cycle of poverty preventing many families from accessing education.

Footprint’s first café is located on Street 26, a small walk from Siem Reap’s beautiful meandering river. Away from the tourist traps but close to the night market, our café offers an oasis to relax and replenish in. A modern, stylish, book lined interior is complimented with a small green outdoor seating area. Customers can choose from an array of meals and snacks both local and international as well as freshly made smoothies, juices and of course coffee, cocktails and teas.

“Today the team continue to build on that great start”

Café Manager Pheakdey Yon heads our entirely local 15 strong team. In their first year our team; built a reputation for excellence; ensured the café became financially self-sustaining; donated much needed teaching resources to educational programmes in floating village and rural schools; reached the semi-final of the National Cambodian Barista competition and funded and trained our first spin out social enterprise project making environmentally sustainable metal straws and helping people with disabilities into work.
